Noir at the Bar-Mitzvah ed.

Tonight at Subterranean Books it's N@B's second ever themed event - Jewish Noir. What makes me qualified to participate? I have Jewish friends. That's it. And yeah, I'm in that book. So is Tasha Kaminsky whose father, the late Stuart Kaminsky knew a thing about it - I read a couple of his Abe Lieberman books back in the day - have you? Maybe remedy that if not.

Last night Tasha and I joined Nicky Rainey on the KDHX podcast Literature For the Halibut and Jewish Noir editor Kenneth Wishnia even called in for a few moments. You can listen to that episode right here. Both Tasha and I read excerpts from our respective contributions to the anthology and Ken pointed out that our selections were about as dissimilar as the anthology got. That's true. Mine is loud and crass and unrefined and Tasha's is quietly unsettling. It haunts and disturbs on other levels.

Tonight you can hear both of us as well as Byron Kerman whose Heeb Magazine's Holocaust Humor contest runner-up-honors-winning story about a hero chimp will have you all pointing at your assholes. So, be there and remember to BYOB.
